Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was proclaimed and adopted on December 10th 1948, in Paris, by the United Nations General Assembly with resolution 217A (UDHR: Universal Declaration of Human Rights).

Further to the atrocities that characterized the second world war, the United Nations member states believed that they had to protect the rights, freedom and dignity of mankind by means of universal laws.

Since freedom of speech, freedom of belief, freedom from fear and need are the highest aspirations of humankind, it was deemed essential to promote and support friendly relationships among all nations.

Article 1 of the universal Declaration of Human Rights
